I don’t fall in love that easily.
With Lisl Steiner however, it was instant infatuation, even though I met her on Youtube and not in real life.
But what a fantastic spirit ! She’s a documentary filmmaker and photographer for Life Magazine, who shot pictures of presidents (J.F. Kennedy and his wife Jacqueline, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon), Fidel Castro, Louis Armstrong…
She was born in Vienna in 1927 but left for Argentina before Hitler started doing his ugly thing.

I wanted to share a video with you, where she participated in the “What’s Underneath project”. This is a body positivity project, where people are asked to gradually take off their clothes in front of the camera, while answering question that show who they really are.
Lisl doesn’t have any problem with this, even though (a word of warning for the sensitive) she has scars due her battle with breast cancer.

She talks about aging and about dying with dignity. But most of all, she talks about a life well lived.
Her inner strength and sense of humour just blew me away. If Pipi Longstocking is really out there and grew old, this could be her.
This video never fails to put a smile on my face when I’m feeling low and sorry for myself.

At the time of this interview, Lisl was 87 (sorry, 88 !). She’s now 93, and still very much kicking butt !
